What is a granulator for dry process technology?

Pubdate: 2024-11-07

The granulator of dry process technology is a device used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food to produce larger particles from powder or fine granular materials through dry process technology. In the dry granulation process, liquid is not used as a binder, but mechanical force is used to bond the material particles together into granules. The following are some characteristics and common types of dry granulation machines:

Characteristic:

1. No need for liquid adhesive: Dry granulation does not require the use of liquid adhesive, making it suitable for materials that are unstable when in contact with water or need to avoid wet processes.

2. Energy saving: Compared with wet granulation, dry granulation usually consumes less energy because there is no process of liquid evaporation and drying.

3. Easy to operate: The dry granulation machine is relatively simple to operate and easy to maintain.

4. Good product stability: Due to not using liquids, the chemical stability of the product is better, making it suitable for heat sensitive materials.

5. Low environmental pollution: The dry granulation process generates less dust and exhaust gas, which has a relatively small impact on the environment.

Common types:

1. Rotary granulator (disc granulator):

-Materials gradually form particles on a rotating disk due to the effects of centrifugal and frictional forces.

-Suitable for granulation of various powder materials.

2. Drum type granulator:

-The material is compressed and granulated between two or more relatively rotating rollers.

-Suitable for large-scale production, with uniform particle size.

3. Extrusion granulator:

-The material is extruded into strips through a specific mold and then cut into particles.

-Suitable for materials with high viscosity or certain plasticity.

4. Agglomeration granulator:

-Use static electricity or mechanical force to agglomerate small particles into larger ones.

-Suitable for granulation of fine powders, especially for materials that are difficult to shape.

5. Fluidized bed granulator:

-The material is agglomerated in a fluidized bed by spraying a small amount of adhesive or using mechanical force.

-It can achieve continuous production with relatively uniform particle size and shape.

During the operation of the dry granulation machine, attention should be paid to the characteristics of the materials and various parameters during the granulation process, such as feed speed, drum speed, temperature, etc., to ensure the granulation effect and quality. Due to the suitability of dry granulation machines for various materials and industries, the selection of equipment needs to be based on specific production requirements.
